What is Project Archimedes?

Our customers give us amazing feedback and ideas on how to make SignOnSite better.

Next to talking to our customers, our favourite thing to do is to take action.

Project Archimedes is the culmination of that feedback and hard work by our Product and Development team.

We’ve made 8 key improvements to SignOnSite to make work easier on work sites, and at the office.

The Improvements

Kiosk Inductions

If you have a site induction form activated on your site, you can now allow workers to complete the induction form on the kiosk.

We wanted to provide a way for non-app users to complete a digital induction form on site via the kiosk (iPad) so that no more paper is used on site, and site managers aren’t having to upload paper forms to SignOnSite.

The option to use the kiosk for site inductions must be activated in the ‘Settings’ for the site.

You must also ensure the kiosk device (ipad or other) has the latest ‘SOS Kiosk’ app update.

iOS -> LINK

Only when an induction form is activated for a site will turning this feature on result in a change to the kiosk. Go to ‘Induction’ tab and check the ‘Induction forms’ to see if your form .

Scroll down to ‘Feature Settings’ and turn ‘On’ the ‘Worker Inductions on Kiosk’.

With the feature turned on, all users who are using the kiosk and are not inducted (first sign on or otherwise) will be prompted with a notification to complete an induction every time they sign on until they are inducted.

A worker will have two options after signing on, to complete the induction or to skip the induction.

If ‘complete induction’ is selected then the form launches on the kiosk.

If ‘skip induction’ is selected then the worker will be signed on and their status will be ‘not inducted’.

Company Registration

When first signing on, workers must choose from a list of predetermined company names. If you use Procore, this list can be generated from the Procore Site Directory.

The current free-text approach to company names results in lots of duplicates and misspellings, which in turn leads to reporting issues.

Company Registration is a way for site management to pre-set a list of companies that workers select from when first signing on.

The list can be manually created, uploaded from a .csv file or synced from a Procore project.

Turning on Company Registration

The option to use the kiosk for site inductions must be activated in the ‘Settings’ for the site.

Manually Creating a Company List

Scroll to the ‘Companies on Site’ section on the ‘Settings page’.

Uploading a CSV Company List

If you want to use the same company list over and over for each new site, you can create a csv file that you upload to the site list for every new site.

Scroll to the ‘Companies on Site’ section on the ‘Settings page’, and click the ‘Upload CSV’ button.

Image

Syncing with Procore as your Company List

If you use Procore and your site is linked to SignOnSite, you can sync the Procore Site Directory to the SignOnSite Company List.

Scroll to the ‘Companies on Site’ section on the ‘Settings page’, and click the ‘Sync Procore Directory’ button.

If you want SignOnSite to automatically update from the Procore Directory every 24 hours, then make sure you have the Procore Auto Sync toggle to ‘ON’.

Subcontractor Supervisor Enhancements

Subcontractor supervisors can now get weekly reports, access (read only) their associated sites on the web and the app, and have more guidance/education material on how to use these features when they are invited.

We’ve seen sites that leverage the Subcontractor Supervisor features have been more successful with respect to data accuracy and smartphone adoption. By providing a value-add to the crew, this optional capability provides the subbies and their company an incentive to use SignOnSite.

  1. Click on the Site Settings button on the top right hand corner of the web panel.
  2. Scroll down to the “Subcontractor Supervisors” section of the page.
  3. In the box provided, enter the email address of the supervisor you want to add, then hit “Next”.
    Image
  4. In the box provided, enter the full company name of the Subcontractor. If the system has previously added the subcontractor, a drop down menu will appear that you may select from. Hit “Next” when you’re done.

  5. In the box provided, enter the type of work that the Subcontractor will perform, then hit “Add”. The Subcontractor Supervisor should now appear in the register below.

Enhanced Acuite Integration

For companies that use Acuite, SignOnSite sends data via an API. This data now includes flags for worker status (visitor or worker, inducted or not inducted) so you can create custom dashboards for compliance.

This is in addition to the current total man hour data sent to Acuite.

Turned on for all Acuite users – contact Acuite for further support.

Indigenous, Apprentice and Emissions reporting with induction forms

The Induction form allows for collection of additional fields, that are also reflected in Reports.

These additional fields include:

  • Apprentice status
  • Indigenous status
  • Postcode (for emissions reporting)

This is available on all new induction forms. Please note this won’t be retroactive. If you want to use this feature you will need to create a new induction form.
